Play date

The girls from Sydney's class had a playdate one Friday afternoon. I'm not sure who had more fun - the girls or the moms! It was nice to sit around and chat with moms that have similar interests! We gathered at Amelia Grace's house for pizza and fun. The girls played dress up, jumped on the trampoline (all 11 at one time), and watched a movie. It was an exciting end to a busy week! I have some pictures of dressing up - quite hilarious!

Valentines Parties

Sydney's class had a well planned and fun Valentine Party! All of their parties are so organized and the students have so much fun. They have stations that parents volunteer to work. The party is centered around educational themed activities and not just food!! Valentines Day seems to be a favorite of all children - they love to exchange the cards.


Myles had a party too at his daycare! They made their own Valentine cards and mailboxes out of Capri Sun boxes. They turned out very cute! They also painted t-shirts to wear unfortunately, Myles and several other boys, decided they were "too cool" to wear their shirts.

We had a fun sugar-filled evening!

American Girl Tea

The Quota Club in Ruston sponsored an American Girl Tea for mothers and daughters. We started the morning at the Dixie Theater watching the Samantha movie. After the movie, the girls and their dolls went to the Lincoln Parish Museum for an etiquette lesson and tea. This was a terrific idea. American Girl dolls are very popular with girls of all ages in Ruston. Sydney and I met some friends at the theater. They had a wonderful time with their dolls.

Lil Lady Techsters Autograph Session and Pizza Party

Sydney is a member of the Lil Lady Techsters Club. After the game on Friday night they had an autograph session for the Lil Lady Techsters. When they finished, there was a pizza party in the Lady Techsters locker room. The players were so friendly. Sydney had a pink basketball that they signed. A couple of the players liked the ball and played keep away with it. Sydney had a time. Myles enjoyed himself too! This was after the Father Daughter Banquet - it was a late night!

We had our annual Father Daughter Banquet at the church last Friday night. Sydney looks forward to this "date" with daddy every year. There was a special guest this year.... Hannah Montana! The kids loved it! Several of the youth dressed up and arrived in a limo as Hannah Montana and her crew. So funny! They eat dinner, make several crafts, have pictures taken, and enjoy a little entertainment. This is a memory that Sydney will always have!

Expo Night

Sydney had "Expo Night" at her school last week. They had their work on display for us to enjoy! Sydney was proud of her 100 Day Poster - Perfectly Pinkalicious! It was lots of fun for us to make together. The choirs sang and the piano students played for us to enjoy as we walked around. It was such a great thing. I'll say again, we are so thankful that she is at A.E.P.

A Sad Day

Monday night we had a terrible accident at our house. Tedd and I were on the couch watching television. Hank was on the rug in front of us chewing a bone. Luckily, the kids were already asleep in the bed. Hank had been on the rug for at least an hour working on his tiny rawhide bone. He stood up and walked over to Tedd. Tedd immediately picked him up and realized he was choking. He stuck his finger down his throat several times trying to get the piece of bone out. Within seconds he was dead. We did everything we could. It was awful. I'm so glad the kids were in the bed and didn't witness it.

We decided that we wouldn't tell the kids until after school the next day. So, we let them sleep as late as we could on Tuesday morning so there was no spare time to play. We woke them up and rushed to get ready and leave - our plan worked.

After school Tedd told Sydney. She was very upset and had lots of questions.

Meanwhile, Tuesday morning mom got on the phone and called the kennel that we had gotten Hank from. He had 1 female Yorkie that was sold already to a Tech student. After hearing our story he decided that we needed the puppy worse than the college student! He sold her to us and got the Tech student another one at a later date. He remembered us buying Hank and how excited we all were when we picked him up.

We are now the owners of "Roxie." She is a doll - no Hank- but still precious. We have all had to adjust. Poor Roxie doesn't stand a chance b/c we all compare her to Hank. She will never learn her name b/c about 1/2 the time we call her Hank.

She is a really good dog. Sleeps in her kennel all night and she's been easy to train so far. We are excited and having her definitely did ease the pain for all of us.
